‘In my extended family, there were several women working in fishing. My nona (grandmother) was selling fish in the market, together with my great aunt. My aunt was also selling; she owned a fish shop for a while. My other aunt was also helping to sell fish. I think two more aunts worked in De Langlade (fish canning factory) […] In my family, it is only me continuing with the tradition. In fish shops, let’s say, in my fish shops, I have only two men in addition to six women […] There is still tradition, and it will stay, nobody can take that away. I always say I am not a person to visit cemeteries and like to remember my grandmas differently. You will not see me at the cemetery, but I can say, in a way, I remember them daily’.
